Text recognition runs on your device and depends on how clear the photo is. Keeping the page flat, avoiding shadows and framing only the paragraph you care about all improve the result noticeably. You can always correct the recognised text by hand.
On your device. There is no developer server; your notes and photos are never sent anywhere. See the privacy policy for details.
Connect a Google account from Settings; the backup is written to your own Google Drive. The app can only see files it created itself and cannot reach anything else in your Drive. Connecting is optional — the app works fully without it.
Back up on the old device, then install the app on the new one, connect the same Google account and restore the backup.
Settings → Delete account: this revokes the Google connection, deletes the Drive backup and erases all notes on the device. Deleting the app also removes local data, but a Drive backup would remain.
